This derelict 10 storey office block had been left empty in the centre of Hastings for a number of years. There were a number of windows that had been removed and the building contained asbestos, with piles of debris that was covered in pigeon guano present throughout the floors. There was also the remains of an illegal cannabis farm in the basement.
We were contracted to make the building safe by boarding over the open window spaces, remove the asbestos, clear all the debris and pigeon guano and strip out all the partitions, floor coverings, suspended ceilings, redundant M&E, toilets and other sanitaryware. Finally, the floors, walls and ceilings were washed down with bleach to ensure there was no pigeon guano contamination left.
It was a filthy job, but somebody had to do it….
